Soles4Souls – Sports Chalet shoe drive for Japan Quake and Tsunami victims

Posted on: March 26, 2011 by admin 9 Comments

Leslie Mills brought this to our attention today. Big shout out to Leslie!!!

Talk about a cool idea, if you have any gently worn shoes in your closet, your kids closets, your garage, in the trunk of your teenager’s car, or anywhere else you can think of….donate them to the victims in Japan who can really use them. Take them by any Sports Chalet location and drop them off in the Soles4Souls donation box in the front of the store. If you really want to make an impact, try collecting shoes from your neighbors as well!!

You can see what’s going on at Soles4Souls by clicking on the link below. Invensure endorses this organization with heaps of Soul!!

Earthquake prediction 2011 Jim Berkland….perhaps you should consider EQ insurance.

Earthquake insurance is something we’re advising our clients to seriously consider in light of recent events in Japan. Currently there are no moratoriums for placing this coverage, so if you are considering purchasing this coverage, now would be a good time. Click on the following link for some very interesting commentary. Our best thoughts and prayers go out to our friends in Japan.

Where in the World are we headed?

This Swedish acedemic brings forth a very interesting idea for all of us to consider in this day of uncertainty. A friend sent this to us and I’m thankful for his perspective in this day of pessimism. Definitely worth the 4 minutes.

Traveling this season?

Rental Car Companies

A friendly reminder to our friends and clients, if you’re traveling during the holiday season, and you decide to rent a car, make sure you always purchase the “Damage Waiver” option. I just rented a small Mercedes Benz and the cost for the waiver added $14.99 per day to the rental fee.

The Damage Waiver releases you from any physical damage to the vehicle you’re renting. If you do not take this option, most rental companies have the right to charge the full value of the vehicle or estimated loss (including loss of their rental income through the repair period) against the credit card you used to rent the vehicle.

This even applies to when you rent something as simple as a U-Haul trailer.

RULE OF THUMB: When renting a vehicle…..Always ask for the Damage Waiver, also known as Collision Waiver.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Local Heros – a non-profit worthy of support!

Invensure, as part of our community outreach effort, decided to adopt the Dowling Family in an effort to show our appreciation for all that Matt Dowling has done for our Country. Of Matt’s 7 years of service with the Marine Corp, he has served 5 of those years overseas and has seen more time on the battlefield than imaginable. Matt has sustained many injuries during his years of service and is trying to make sense of it all as he reassimilates back with his family. We are so impressed with Matt and the fine young man he is. This was made possible through a local charity known as Local Heros Corp.

All funds donated are used to help Marine Corps families, the benefactors of Local Heros Corp, a non-profit corporation based in Newport Beach, California.

“The feeling of giving to a worthy cause we can put a face to, shake their hands, hug the kids, and get to know them a little, really is what it’s all about”, said Richard Sherman, one of the Principals at Invensure Insurance Brokers in charge of Invensure’s Signature Client Group. “It’s important for private sector companies like ours to rally around great organizations like Local Heros Corp, and give back to the community as well as our country that has been so good to us.”

Santa has his list….and we have ours!

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Invensure!

It’s the time of the year when many of you may be vacationing, hosting gatherings at your homes or receiving valuable gifts. To ensure that you remain properly protected, here is our list of holiday-related topics to consider during this time of year:

Hosting Holiday Parties and Events
Maintaining adequate levels of excess liability insurance can safeguard all that you’ve worked a lifetime to build. If hosting an event during the season, remember to consider your guests safety when serving alcohol.

New Acquisitions
When opening gifts under the tree this year, this will act as your reminder to add expensive items to your insurance schedule.

Vacant homes
Leaving a home empty increases the risk of burglary and water damage. Precautionary measures should be taken to ensure that a caretaker is monitoring the home while you are traveling over the holidays.

Holiday travel
Unfortunately, traveling during the holidays (or any other time of year for that matter) is not always seamless; luggage gets lost, flights get canceled and plans can change. Annual travel insurance can protect you from unexpected trip interruptions or changes.

Fire hazards
During this time of year, many homeowners are lighting candles, putting up Christmas trees and decorating their homes with other holiday accents. Although it may seem like common sense, we’d like to remind you to closely monitor these fire hazards.

Seniors In Assisted Living Facilities Lack Personal Liability Insurance

Posted on: December 22, 2010 by admin No Comments

Senior citizens have a lot to worry about but perhaps one of the most stressful worries they face is the loss of independence. For some seniors, transitioning from living independently to living in an assisted living or long term care facility can be a daunting, but inevitable reality. And with the assisted living transition comes questions about personal liability coverage.

As homeowners, seniors held personal liability coverage under their homeowners policies. But moving into an assisted living facility means not only the loss of their homeowners insurance but the loss of their personal liability coverage, a reality that many do not understand.

The population that is aging is not old, they are still active and out and about on golf courses, taking walks, and utilizing mobility scooters. With such activities comes liability exposure. These folks are not old, they’re just making lifestyle choices.

For those of you who either live in an assisted living facility or know someone who does, we have a product that fills the gap and provides coverage for the exposures that definitely still exist.
